Create unforgettable, magical memories that you will cherish and treasure forever, from your visit to the warmest, southern most captivating region in Germany.
Meet Colin, your knowledgeable tour guide and wine expert, at your hotel in either Colmar, Breisach am Rhein or Basel, where you will both begin and end your tour to this enchanting and fascinating wine region.
“An amazing full day wine tasting in Alsace. Colin was friendly and very knowledgeable about the region & its many wines. He chose 4 very different wineries, both in terms of size & character. All four of us loved the day. We would highly recommend!” Lyndiloola107 December 2022 (TripAdvisor)
Enjoy tasting fabulously exquisite wines from 3 small artisanal, world-renowned wine-making families.
The amazing Pinot Noir’s from this fabulous region are a testament to the people, the viticultural practices and the land. The wineries here have been experimenting and perfecting the art of clonal selection, soil type and rootstock variation for generations.
On this remarkable wine tour you will taste the phenomenal difference’s between both Burgundian Pinot Noir and Baden-Württemberg Spätburgunder clones.
Together we will explore this fascinating area, well known to wine connoisseur’s and afficionado’s, for making many of the most internationally award-winning Pinot Noir & Spätburgunder wines in the world.
The 2 wine producing regions of Baden and Württemberg when combined together make this the third largest wine producing region in Germany.
The vineyards of the Baden region are 400 km long and run along the eastern bank of the Rhine river.
Württemberg is slightly farther east and here you will find the intense, multi-award winning Pinot Noir’s that make this region so famous.

Your first winery of the day will be in the small village of Schlatt, home to one of Baden-Württemberg’s superstar winemakers. His estate produces some of the most intense, fruity and characterful Spätburgunder’ that you will find. His wines have consistently out-performed similar wines from Oregon, California, New Zealand and Burgundy in international wine competitions and are critically acclaimed in the media.
“Colin was a superb host. To say wine is his passion would be an understatement. At points Colin was practically buzzing when we were about to try some of his favourites. We learned so much about the varieties, the history of wine making and how to drink 32 different wines all in one day! Thank you again Colin, we will recommend your wine tour”. 972Moef May 2023 (TripAdvisor)
We will then drive to a small local restaurant and stop for approximately 1 hour for lunch where you can enjoy typical local dishes
(Lunch is not included in the tour price).
After lunch we will head up in to the ancient and historically important Kaiserstuhl mountain range and to the village of Bickensohl.
From here you will be able to view the Roman cultivated Schlossberg Achkarren vineyards. It is here, nestled amongst these ancient terraced vineyards that you will visit one of the oldest wineries in the region.
The village of Bickensohl is mentioned in documents from the early middle-ages and the soils here are a mixture of loess and volcanic rock which make ideal conditions for ripening Pinot Noir.
Our third winery of the day is located in the shadow of the Schambach and is one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly in the whole of the region. Working in close harmony with nature, this winery has planted trees, bushes and shrubs to help preserve the wildlife in their vineyards.
The wines here are powerful with deep sonorous flavours and are made using a blend of both traditional and modern wine-making techniques. These wines are sought after by wine enthusiasts and are only made in strictly limited amounts as the winery firmly believes in strict control, efficient use of the land and working in concord with nature.
The winemaker of this tiny boutique winery produces some of the most compellingly exquisite, potent, and ripest of Spätburgunder’s that you will get to taste. His wines here are of such a limited release that to be able to taste these astonishing wines is quite a rare treat indeed.
We will then make our way back to either Colmar or Basel where we will then drop you back at your hotel.
