We will stop at four wineries to sample the magnificent wines of which Alsace is famous, including amongst others Gewürztraminer and Riesling. Learn about the wines, region and history whilst enjoying the personal attention in a small group strictly limited to between two to six people.
Meet Colin, your knowledgeable tour guide and wine expert, in the heart of Basel, where we will both begin and end our tour.
We will then board our people-carrier for the day and make our way towards the Routes des Vins d’Alsace, which is a 105-mile (170-km) route winding through the rolling hills of the Vosges Mountains.
Our first stop of the day will be in either Guebwiller, the most westerly of the Haut-Rhin villages or the charming ancient village of Eguisheim. Both of these delightful villages are on the famed Routes des Vins d’Alsace.
The second destination of our tour is the pretty village of Riquewihr.
Considered by many to be one of the most picturesque villages in Alsace, it produces some of the most exquisite wines to be found. It is here that we will taste amongst others the delicious Gewurztraminer wine, famous for its spicy, fragrant character.
We will then take a break at around midday, in Riquewihr, where you will be free to take lunch wherever you choose (Not included in the wine tour price).
We can offer you a vineyard picnic option, weather permitting (see price list for details).
After lunch, we will then visit a vineyard in the Haut–Rhin, where you can observe the rich tapestry of the vineyards and the abundant undulating landscape.
Next, we will head towards the village of Kientzheim home to both Domaine Paul Blanck and Domaine Kirrenbourg . It is here that we will visit one of these boutique wineries where you will taste some of the most exciting and astonishing wines. The wines of both these Domaine’ reflect the ideals of Bio-dynamism and sustainable working practices, combining both harmony and empathy in the vineyard.
Our day ends with a visit to the historic town of Ribeauville, located at the very heart of the vineyard region. Renowned for its 3 Grand Cru’s Osterberg, Kirchberg and Geisberg, the soil types vary from vineyard to vineyard. Here we will sample many of the magnificent grapes to be found in Alsace, including Sylvaner, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc.
We will then make our way back to Basel where we will then drop you back at your hotel.
