ICON’S OF ALSACE WINE TOUR

This is a unique opportunity to visit 3 of the most revered and prestigious family owned estates in Alsace.

The Domaine’s that we will visit through the course of the day are without doubt amongst the pre-eminent of the Alsace region, their steadfast philosophies, approach to viticulture, respect for the terroir and love for producing the very best wine will be experienced by you.

The first stop of this fabulous tour will be in the village of Kayersberg. Together we will walk through the alluringly charismatic medieval village streets, encountering its history around every corner.

We will then drive to our first winery of this exclusive triumvate of esteemed wineries.

Domaine Faller-Weinbach:

The Weinbach estate was established in 1612 by the Capuchin monks and named after the stream that flows through it. In 1898 it was acquired by the Faller family through the ‘Sale of national Assets’, and was renamed Domaine Faller-Weinbach.

The estate hand-harvests grapes from the respected Grand Cru’s of Schlossberg, Mackrain, Altenberg and Furstentum. It is the historical Clos (walled vineyard) dating back to 890 AD of the former Capuchin convent with its gravelly, sandy and granite pebbles that produces the estates critically acclaimed Riesling wines. Sought after by experts and collectors for their purity of fruit, expression of terroir and ageing potential these wines regularly reach 95+ points in international tastings.

Since 2005 the estate has been farmed bio-dynamically.

We then make our way to the beautiful village of Riquewihr where we will stop for approximately 1.5 hours in this village, here you are free to either take lunch, do some sightseeing or engage in a bit of shopping.

(Lunch is not included as part of the wine tour).

We can recommend restaurants in Riquewihr for your lunch to suit your budget and requirements.

After our stop in Riquewihr we will then leave for Beblenheim and the wonderful domaine of Domaine Bott-Geyl.

Domaine Bott-Geyl:

Domaine Bott-Geyl’s vineyards are located on some of the most unique ancient rocks to be found in the whole region of Alsace. It is through this rich complexity of soils, strict viticultural practices and the resulting wines, that makes this domaine one of the most exciting, innovative and critically recognised throughout the wine world.

The domaine has long been recognised for maintaining a strong link to the bio-diversity surrounding its vineyards, and has been certified as bio-dynamic since 2002.

The domaine’s grapes are all harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and maturity from their plots. The family not only source their grapes from the magnificent Grand Cru vineyards of Schloßberg, Schoenenbourg, Sonnenglanz, Furstentum, Mandelberg and Sporen, but also from the Lieux-dits of Grafenreben, Kronenbourg and the Clos de 3 Chemins.

For our final winery we head to the ancient village of Bergheim (voted one of the most beautiful in Alsace). Here we will step through the looking glass of wine and encounter wines that are the stuff of legend, fought over by wine afficionado’s, critics and enthusiasts.

Domaine Marcel Deiss:

Domaine Marcel Deiss has done more than any other estate to promote the importance of the balance in viticulture, agroforestry, soil harmony, planetary rhythms, microbial energy, animal influence and respect for the terroir.

Domaine Marcel Deiss is at the forefront of pushing the boundries mixing ancient practices with modern concepts. Through these unique wines you will find the true expression and meaning of terrior by going beyond the varietal framework.
