The charm of the Alsatian Christmas markets lies in their beautiful settings, quality of medieval architecture, its numerous old houses and twisty cobbled alleyways, which have been preserved for centuries. The time worn streets and houses are adorned with sparkling illuminations, decorated façades and historic sites all within their ancient fortifications. These romantic medieval villages will enchant, captivate and bewitch you.
On this wonderful festive tour you will visit 2 family-owned wineries dating back to the 16th century, where you will taste between 6-8 wines. Riesling is the King in Alsace but you will also sample Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir as well as many others.
The tour begins with collection from your place of accommodation. We will then travel to the picturesque village of Riquewihr, one of the most beautiful villages in Alsace, you will be given a short tour around its historical streets, enjoying its old architecture, the sights, smells and sounds of this wonderful village.
You will then experience a wine tasting in one of these ancient family-owned wineries.
World renowned and critically acclaimed, this winery has been awarded numerous accolades throughout its long history and here you will get to sample many of its remarkable wines.
You will then have lunch, (not included in the price of the tour) and have some free time in which to explore the Christmas market at your leisure.
We will then travel to our 2nd wine tasting of the day in another medieval village, a short drive away from Riquewihr.
Here you will taste wines that have been made using organic/bio-dynamic methods. The history of this family goes back several generations, their wines are of exceptional quality and reveal the rich terroir of the Alsatian geology.
After the tasting has concluded you will then be taken back to your accommodation.
